If you bought a house that was already insulated, you may not know what is above you.
Signs to look for
Look with a torch from the loft hatch. If the underside of the slates or tiles looks yellow, cream or grey, uneven and sticky-looking, and you cannot see the battens or felt clearly, it is probably sprayed foam. Rolls of mineral wool on the loft floor are a different, easier situation.
What to do next
Do not cut into it or pull it off. Have it looked at so you know the type and the timber condition.
